African Adoption

Did I get your attention?.....good! No we are not adopting, but I know a wonderful couple who is adopting a little boy from Africa and they hope to bring him home very soon!  To read their story, check out my friend Lara's blog: http://www.thefarmerswifetellsall.com/

Fundraisers are in full swing to help this wonderful couple and their family bring this precious little boy home.  Lara and her church had been working on a project to send "women" supplies to young girls in Africa.  I really wanted to help and was told I could donate deodorant.  Deodorant in Africa is $7 a stick and is considered a luxury.  I went to their house last night to deliver the goods and heard their beautiful testimony of their last visit to Africa and the culture in Africa compared to ours.  Lara also told me of stories of children in the orphanages and how children over the age of 5 are usually not adopted.  I was saddened to hear of little children not being adopted and having to live without parents or a real family of their own.  I wanted to help them in anyway I could to help bring their little boy home to a family, to their family.

Right now there is an online baby-shower going on over at Lara's blog to help raise money for their plane tickets to go to Africa to finalize the adoption and pick up their son.  Also on her blog they are selling beautiful bead necklaces from Africa that could be worn as bracelets. The real necklace is so much prettier than the pictures I have below. Miss Rylie almost hijacked them from me as soon as I walked in the door.

So I hope everyone will travel over to Lara's blog and buy some beautiful beads or donate to her virtual baby shower to help them fund their trip to bring Baby "A" home.
